Countdown to Constellation

moon_landing_630px.jpg

In 1969, just 11 years after it's inception, NASA did what has been hailed as it's greatest achievement, landing a man on the moon! Yet, after only three short years into the Apollo program, to the dismay of many, the moon program was suddenly cut short. "Been there, done that". The public was bored. NASA needed something else to capture the public's attention so the space shuttle program was the answer, and later, the ISS. While many discoveries and technologies have been made as a result of these missions, NASA still has yet to leave low earth orbit since the early seventies.

Well, after nearly nearly 40 years, NASA is planning on returning to the moon. This ambitious new program will be more than just sending astronauts to collect a few rocks and and kick up up dust with the rover. This time NASA is going back to the moon to stay.
